Great Lakes Expo Center Closing

http://www.news-herald.com/articles/2011/06/04/news/nh4088796.txt

Great Lakes Expo Center, opened in early 2010, is soon to be a thing of the past. Typical ignorant comments can be found at source above.

Yeah... so feelings on the Lincoln Electric turbine?

  1. Of course, it's not surprising seeing comments like "Errybody's gettin' raped in You-kah-led, Durr hurr". I don't beleive that fucking bullshit! Before ESM closed, my mother and grandmother brought me there every evening until ESM finally closed. There's no way Euclid can redevelop that area. Sure, financially we can manage pretty well, and overall I'm pretty content with the progress we're making. BUT STILL. That doesn't degress the fact I still live next to 7 vacant buildings.

  2. It's kind of funny how the News-Herald seems to court the racist demographic of Lake County. I think they're all sad that the Mentor-on-the-Lake bartender that was murdered wasn't murdered by someone who was a "undesirable" from Euclid or Wickliffe.

  3. Very true, guys. I've lived here for 8 years now, close to the mall and I've never had any of these OMG HORRIFIC RUN INS WITH TEH MURDERERS LOL. But then again I generally try to go about without my head up my arse. People run to the Lake County border and act like everything kittens and rainbows. Sure. It's too easy to blame every issue on one thing, and that's just not the case here. Thanks for the comments.

  4. I just moved to Euclid in Jan and agree with that. I think land can be used better too. For instance, that business park next to the run-down Mall on 260th... I drive past it every day and it saddens me. That area could make a killing. I dont think anything is going in that industrial park at the moment. I think it would be better used as a public park. It would keep that area green and kept-up and more local traffic would help bring that mall back.

  5. The Euclid Square Mall building is actually being put to use. Although it isn't really ALL being used, there's roughly 12 different churches and religious organizations camping out in there now. I doubt there will ever be retail returning to Euclid Square.

  6. Would the Great Lakes Expo center closing mean that the Home and Garden Show and the Sport, Travel, and Outdoor Show will move back to the IX Center (or the Cleveland Convention Center once it's rebuilt?)

  7. Wow. I am glad I ran across this blog. No longer a Euclid resident but I grew up there and am sad to see the decline.

  8. Actually great lakes exposition center is no longer a vacant building. Pollack distributors just leased the building and are using it as a warehouse for medical supplies and for food distributions.
