Halloween 1977: Kiwanis & WZZP-FM Haunted House!

Back before haunted houses became multi-million dollar "haunted attractions", there were these kinds of quick and fun scare zones set up by Kiwanis clubs all over America.

What I wouldn't give to see some photos of this haunted house set up at 24700 Euclid Avenue in October, 1977.

WZZP were the call letters for "Zip 106" from 1977 until 1984. Today this frequency is better known as WHLK - 106.5 The Lake.

Happy Halloween!

Front Row Theater Gig has Cher Shopping at Euclid Square Mall

Sonny and Cher Bono were in town to perform at the Front Row Theater from March 29th to April 3rd, 1977.

The Front Row Theater was designed by Richard  Jencen, located in Highland Heights, and opened in 1974.

Euclid Square Mall had its own gala opening March 1, 1977, the same month Sonny and Cher were in town to perform just a few miles away in Highland Heights.

While Sonny Bono was off hitting some tennis balls about a racquet club in Eastlake, Cher Bono chose to shop at Euclid Square Mall's Pepperidge Farm, and I'm sure, lots of other shops.

Here's a Euclid resident requesting an autograph.

I wonder how many other celebs of the day made a trip to ESM?

The location of the old Front Row Theater, closed in 1993 and demolished in 1995, is now home to a retail complex that includes the Highland Heights Home Depot.
