Cleveland: Confronting Decline in an American City

This is a program that was On The Air September 28 2006 (WVIZ).

You can read about it here: http://www.makingsenseofplace.org/cleveland/

Since the mall is featured amongst other places I am really interested in catching this program. If you happen to have a copy of this program, please let me know.

  1. I watched this program when it aired on WCPN; it was interesting to see & hear the former mayor's take on Euclid. I'm not a native, but have heard similar sentiment from long-time residents that experienced Euclid (in the 50's) & the mall (later) in their prime. I hope you have a chance to see the program.

I'm quite interested in "downtown Euclid" (lakeshore & E.222); I was wondering if you've considered expanding your study of Euclid's struggling retail beyond Euclid Square Mall? I was hoping to find some thoughts about the Shore Center retail area. There are pockets of vacant retail buildings already in that area, and possibly another big one on the horizon with the Dave's Supermarket's purchase of the Topps next door.

Also, I was curious if you were aware that the city of Eulcid has recently hired professional planning & traffic consultants to study ways of improving that "downtown" area. Depending on what the powers that be decide (or can afford to do), perhaps things are looking up in Euclid?
