History Lesson: Euclid Aldi Part II: Shott's Dept. Store

History Lesson: Euclid Aldi Part I: Butler Bros Burr's Department Store

In late 1955 a store called Shott's Department Store was in the 22300 Lakeshore Blvd. location. This would have left the unit vacant for under 2 months, if at all!

Were they an offshoot of Butler Bros.? I'm not sure, although this would make me think they were:

Regardless, they did have some interesting drama that November:

Those are some ambitious thieves... a 1500 lb. safe? I guess it didn't do too much to hurt business, because 11 days later they were just freaking giving Thanksgiving turkeys away.

November was a bad month for Shott's Department Store, because just two years later in November 1957 they started running their going out of business ads.

October 6 1955 - January 25 1958.

I guess they gave it their best Shott.
