Euclid Square Mall - Bookstores and Music - Tapes, Records, Instruments

For the bibliophiles and melophiles among us, Euclid Square Mall offered several places where books and music could be browsed, enjoyed, and purchased.

Back before Amazon but long after quaint little bookstores, there were the constants you'd see in an American mall. The most widely recognized and a long lasting book retailer was Waldenbooks.

Waldenbooks was founded in the 1930s and though you may have sworn you just saw one, they were liquidated in bankruptcy in 2011.

The Euclid Square Mall Waldenbooks originally had a faux window decor on the outside and of course, rows upon rows of books.

Another book dealer was the Zondervan branded Family Bookstore.

Another?! Just kidding!

Got enough to read? Books are for nerds? Well good think Euclid Square Mall has a few music stores just
steps away.

Musicland is described in vivid detail in the above text, noting the colorful fixtures and carpeting inside the Euclid location. Musicland boasts knowledgeable sales staff and hard to find records and tapes. They also offered stereo equipment and instruments for sale. Sheet music rounded off Musicland at Euclid Square. Charles Fath transferred from Monaca, Pennsylvania to manage the new Musicland.

The parent company of Musicland also operated Sam Goody, Discount Records, Suncoast Motion Picture Company, On Cue, and the Media Play Superstore Chains. Musicland is defunct but some of the other stores are still limping along in 2025.

Recordland - Ohio local? There were at one point several locations spread over area malls. Neat logo, though.

For those looking to make a little music themselves, Sumwalt's Keyboard Music was a nice destination. This ad makes it look like they also had a location on East 250th. Google returns a location that closed in 2004 in North Royalton, Ohio.
