March 1, 1977 was the official grand opening date of Euclid Square mall. Anchor stores were Higbee's, which opened alongside the mall, and May Company, which didn't open until the late summer of 1977.
Friend of the blog Wayne Poe supplied a partial list of other retailers eager shoppers would find at the new mall located between Babbitt and East 260th street. Winkleman's, Alcove, Susie's Casuals, Motherhood Maternity, Paul Harris, Petries, Foxmoor, Brooks Fashions, Small Stuff, Jean Nicole, The Limited, Frederick's of Hollywood and Casual Corner were some of the options serving women's fashion needs.
Men could find themselves outfitted in looks from Richman Brothers, Rivet, Silverman's, Chess King, Allan Warran, and Gingiss Tux.
Footwear options included Regal Shoes, Thom McAn, Cole Shoes, Stride Rite, Florsheim, Butler Shoes, Faflik Shoes, Kinney Shoes, Father and Son Shoes, Nobil Shoes, and Naturalizer.
Jewelry and gift shops opening their doors in Euclid were Rogers, J.B. Robinson, Dunkin jewelers, World Bazaar, Spencer Gifts, Cards 'N' Such, The Gallery, Things Remembered, and Charms & Things.
Hungry? While Euclid Square mall would never see a food court, you could satiate your appetite at any of the following food and drink outlets: GNC, Helen Hutchley's, York Steakhouse, Captain Chips Potato Ship, Hickory Farms, Orange Julius, Karmelkorn Shoppe, Tiffany's Bakery, Burger King, Bresler's 33 Flavors, Carousel Hot Dogs, and Beef Corral.
Miscellaneous shops also opening in Euclid Square mall were So-Fro Fabrics, EB Brown Optical, Pearl Vision, Homamaker Shops, Flowerama, Radio Shack, Waldenbooks, Family Book Stores, Craft Showcase, Tinder Box, and Kay-Bee Toys.
